Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information FastStrait collects through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the website only. If you become a customer, you'll receive a separate notice covering our services.

What we collect

• Details you give us in a form or email: your name, work email, company, and anything you choose to tell us about your payments.
• Basic technical information your browser sends when you visit, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider keeps in server logs.

We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this site. The live exchange rate and the coastline data on the home page are fetched from third-party services (frankfurter.dev, open.er-api.com and jsDelivr), which see your IP address as part of that request. Your browser keeps the last exchange rate it loaded so the estimate still works if those services are unavailable.

Why we use it

We use your details to reply to you, to understand whether FastStrait fits your needs, and to keep you updated about early access if you've asked us to. We don't sell your information and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to run the site and handle email, such as our hosting and email providers. Some of them may store data outside South Africa. Where they do, we make sure the information is protected to the standard the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) requires.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we're in conversation with you, and for up to two years afterwards unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

Under POPIA, and the GDPR or UK GDPR if they apply to you, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also object to us using it. Email info@faststrait.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
